I rejoice on myself when the hands of girlhood carry me
2017— ongoing
36 prints, 20 × 20cm, text by Zuzia Górlaczyk

„Being a girl is a moment outside of participating in the theatre of gender. It is the pleasure of owning something that is not exposed to view. It's a secret that you whisper in your own ear. It's a real tenderness that we give to ourselves and other girls when no one is looking.”
Zuzia Góralczyk’s words outline the main core of this polaroid series — a ten-year study of girlhood. Through a collaboration with my grandfather’s camera, the perception of loss and gain manifests in elusive images reminiscent of 19th-century photography. Guided by friends and strangers, the work utilizes the soft visual language to ascertain what it means to carry a woman’s body in today’s world, documenting a private tenderness that exists outside of public performance.
